NATIONAL 5-a-SIDE 2010

The National Five a Side football competition was held at DCAE Cosford, Wolverhampton on the weekend of 30/31 January 2010.

Units from all over the UK and Northern Ireland totalling around 168 Cadets descended on DCAE Cosford, formerly RAF Cosford to play in our National Five a Side Football Competition. All the teams taking part are representatives of their Areas who are ultimately the best in their Areas.

The competition was held on two pitches and had to be played over two days. The semi finals and finals were played on Sunday.

As usual, the standards were high. All the games were played with vigour and willingness to win.

CSCC Captain Mark Windsor RN attended the event to show his support and to present the prizes. Captain Windsor’s quote is "Can I also add my sincere appreciation to one and all for making what seemed to be one of the best Football Events we have had yet. The Cadets were extremely well behaved and the sportsmanship first class."

We were also honoured to have Captain Steve Greenwood BSc MDA CEng FRAeS RN who is the Director Support and Deputy Commandant at DCAE Cosford. Capt Greenwood presented the silver medals and also commented that he was impressed with what he has seen and praised the cadets for their conduct and behaviour.
